End date: 2020
Continuous cooperation to improve the quality of teaching and education in the framework of the city twinning between Tilburg and Matagalpa, between local/regional member groups of the unions. Started in 1994 with support for teachers to do inservice training or for unqualified teachers to qualify. Since 2007 the training is structurally embedded in the planning and provided by the University of Matagalpa. In the course of the years AOb provided also training for ANDEN members to build capacity for the local groups. Later the need for improving the quality of teaching became linked with the struggle against non-attendance, school drop out and child labour. The good results obtained with just a small budget and some focussed actions helped ANDEN Matagalpa to link up with the much bigger project from the Stop Child Labour Coalition in 6 countries. With new activities in La Dalia (also Matagalpa region) ANDEN expands its work and is now part of a large network, offering new learning opportunities.
